The 50km figure is drone-to-drone, both modules airborne — that's where you eliminate ground reflections and get true free-space propagation, so yes, that number assumes clean LOS at altitude. The ground-to-ground spec is 5km, which already accounts for the real-world messiness of near-surface RF — multipath, ground absorption, the works.
For your setup, the honest answer is: grain silos and equipment sheds will attenuate the signal, but how much depends on where your nodes are positioned relative to those structures. If one or both modules are elevated even a few meters (mounted on a pole, a vehicle roof, a drone doing a survey pass), you recover a lot of that margin. The receiver sensitivity on the MultiNav Pro+ is genuinely excellent, so you have link budget headroom that cheaper modules don't — NLOS doesn't kill it the way it would a standard BLE module, but it does eat into your usable range.
My practical suggestion for your farmland scenario: treat the 5km ground-to-ground spec as your conservative planning baseline, assume you'll realistically get somewhere in the 2-4km range with partial obstructions in the path, and if you can get even one node elevated you'll see a noticeable improvement.
