MultiNav Pro+ BLE - does output power scale down automatically at short range?

Patricia DavisJune 23, 2026
Hey everyone, working on a asset tracking build and I've been using the MultiNav Pro+ BLE module for the communication side. Mostly it's deployed outdoors with clear line of sight so the 50km range spec is relevant to me, but some of my nodes end up closer together - like 10-50 meters - and I'm wondering if the module does anything smart with TX power or if it just blasts at full power regardless of how far away the peer is.

@Patricia Davis good question — the MultiNav Pro+ doesn't do automatic TX power scaling out of the box. It's designed to hit those extreme range figures, so the default config is optimized for maximum output, not adaptive power control.

That said, if your closer nodes are running off the Power/Program Kit or any battery-constrained setup, you'd want to look at managing TX power manually through firmware. The AI Firmware Builder in the Dev Hub is actually pretty useful for this kind of thing — describe your use case (mixed short/long range nodes, asset tracking, power budget) and it'll generate a starting point you can tune from.

For 10-50m nodes blasting at full power you're not going to damage anything, but you're burning unnecessary current and potentially saturating the receiver on the close end — worth reining in if battery life matters to your deployment.
