MultiNav Pro+ BLE - does range drop significantly when both ends are mobile?

So I've been planning out a project where I need two moving nodes to stay in communication - think like a lead vehicle and a follow vehicle scenario, both units mounted and moving. Most of the BLE range specs I've seen are tested with one fixed base station and one mobile endpoint, which is kind of the ideal case. I'm wondering if anyone has tested the MultiNav Pro+ BLE with both ends moving, and whether the 50km figure holds up or if you're looking at a meaningful drop in effective range when neither node is stationary.

@John Williams great scenario to think through — the 50km figure is actually the drone-to-drone spec, which by definition has both endpoints moving, so that's already the "both mobile" case. The geometry that gets you to 50km is specifically about eliminating ground reflections and multipath interference, which happens when both nodes are elevated, not because one is stationary.
 
For your lead/follow vehicle setup, you're closer to the ground-to-ground case, which is rated at 5km. That's the number to plan around — not because both ends are moving, but because surface-level deployments deal with terrain, vegetation, and ground multipath that elevated nodes don't have to fight. Whether the vehicles are stationary or rolling at highway speed doesn't meaningfully change the RF math; the limiting factor is the propagation environment, not the motion itself.
 
So the short answer: motion isn't your problem, elevation is. If you can get the antennas up above roofline height on both vehicles you'll recover a lot of that range headroom.

Hey, so the 50km figure on the MultiNav Pro+ is honestly already a best-case number under ideal line-of-sight conditions with one static end, and yeah in my testing with two mobile nodes you can expect some degradation - anecdotally I've seen it drop to maybe 60-70% of rated range depending on how much the antenna orientation is changing relative to each other during movement. The bigger variable in your lead/follow setup is probably going to be multipath interference if you're in any kind of urban or semi-obstructed environment, so I'd plan your system around a more conservative range budget and test in your actual deployment conditions before committing to the architecture.
