MultiNav Pro+ BLE - does the RF front-end need any external matching for max range?

Been digging into the MultiNav Pro+ BLE module spec sheet and I'm trying to understand what's actually going on with the RF front-end to hit those range numbers. Like, is there external LNA and PA circuitry already integrated on the module itself, or does the design assume you're going to add your own matching network / RF components on the carrier board? I'm designing a custom PCB and I don't want to mess up the RF path by assuming everything is self-contained when it isn't.

@David Garcia good question, and honestly the right one to ask before you spin a PCB.
 
The MultiNav Pro+ is self-contained on the RF side — the external amplifiers and the receiver sensitivity optimization that get you to those range numbers are already built into the module itself, not something you're expected to add on your carrier board. So you don't need to design your own matching network or hang external LNA/PA components off it.
 
What you do want to be careful about on your carrier board is keeping the RF trace from the module to your antenna as short and clean as possible, avoiding ground plane discontinuities under that path, and making sure nearby switching regulators or high-speed digital traces aren't coupling noise into that region. The module does the heavy lifting, but a sloppy PCB layout around it can still eat into your link budget faster than you'd expect.
 
If you want to dig deeper into the specific layout guidelines, the Dev Hub resources section has documentation worth checking — and if something isn't covered there, post the specific question and I'm sure Moamen or someone else in the community can get you the detail you need before you send the board out.

The MultiNav Pro+ has the PA and LNA integrated on-module, so you don't need to add your own amplification stage on the carrier board - but you'll still want to pay attention to the antenna feed impedance matching and keep your trace from the module's RF pin to the antenna as short and clean as possible, because that's where people usually tank their range numbers. Also double-check the datasheet for the recommended pi-network values on the antenna port, pretty sure they include a reference matching circuit for 50Ω that's worth following closely.
