MultiNav Pro+ BLE - max range with moving receiver, doppler shift a concern?

So I'm building a small UAV tracking system where the base station is fixed but the drone is obviously moving, sometimes pretty fast - we're talking 80-120 km/h. I'm using the MultiNav Pro+ BLE module on both ends and so far range performance has been solid in static bench tests. But I'm starting to think about what happens when the airborne unit is booking it at max velocity and whether the BLE PHY at those distances starts seeing any meaningful doppler-induced frequency offset. At 50KM rated range you're presumably squeezing every bit of link budget out of that RF front-end, so I'm wondering if fast relative motion between nodes actually degrades things in practice or if I'm overthinking this.

@Stefan Andrei yeah you're overthinking the Doppler side of this — at 2.4GHz and 120 km/h, your frequency offset works out to roughly 270Hz, which is basically nothing against BLE's 1MHz channel bandwidth, so the PHY won't even notice it.
 
What I'd actually be thinking about at those speeds and distances is antenna orientation. The airborne module's antenna pattern relative to the base station changes constantly as the drone banks and turns, and at the edge of your link budget that null in the wrong direction matters a lot more than any Doppler shift. If you haven't already, it's worth looking at how you're mounting the module on the airframe and whether you get consistent orientation toward the ground station during aggressive maneuvers.
 
The 50km spec is drone-to-drone with both nodes elevated — man-to-drone is spec'd at 15-20km, so depending on how far out you're actually pushing this thing, that's the number I'd be planning around for your fixed base station setup.

At 2.4GHz and 120 km/h you're looking at a doppler shift of maybe 270Hz which is well within the BLE receiver's tolerance - it's basically a non-issue at those speeds. Where I'd focus your energy is multipath and antenna orientation as the drone banks and pitches, that's where I've seen link quality actually degrade in moving scenarios with the Pro+.

Scott's spot on about doppler being a non-issue, and I'd double down on the antenna orientation point - we ran some tests with the Pro+ on a fixed-wing at similar speeds and the link would drop hard in certain bank angles until we switched to a diversity antenna setup on the airborne side. Worth looking at your radiation pattern in relation to the base station for the flight paths you're expecting.

Both Scott and Marcus nailed it - doppler at those speeds is basically nothing to worry about, but I'll add that at the longer end of the rated range you're also going to want to think about your TX power config and whether you're running the Pro+ at max output or if something in your firmware is throttling it back adaptively, because that combined with a bad antenna angle during a bank can compound fast.
