MultiNav Pro+ GNSS 1.5m accuracy - does it degrade under tree canopy?

Been integrating the MultiNav Pro+ GNSS module into a forestry survey tool and running into some inconsistency I wasn't fully expecting. In open sky the 1.5m accuracy spec holds up really well, honestly better than I thought it would for the price point. But once I'm working under moderate to dense tree cover the fix quality drops noticeably - I'm seeing positional scatter more like 4-6m based on my ground truth checks. Which isn't shocking, tree canopy is always going to mess with signal, but I'm trying to figure out how much of that is just physics vs something I can tune in the config.

@Kent Dawson yeah honestly 4-6m under moderate to dense canopy is pretty much what physics gives you regardless of the receiver — tree cover causes multipath and signal attenuation that no amount of tuning fully overcomes, so you're not fighting a config problem, you're fighting geometry.
 
That said, there's a few things worth trying. The 18Hz fix rate is actually your friend here — if you're logging position data rather than needing a single-point snap, averaging over a short dwell period (even 2-3 seconds stationary) at each survey point will tighten that scatter significantly. Multipath noise is somewhat random so temporal averaging helps more than people expect. Also worth checking whether you have multi-constellation enabled in your config — if you're only running GPS and not pulling in GLONASS or Galileo, you're leaving satellites on the table, and under canopy every additional bird in view matters a lot for DOP.
 
What does your fix quality look like in terms of satellite count and HDOP when you're seeing the worst scatter? That'll tell you whether it's a signal availability problem or a multipath problem, and the fix from there is different.

Yeah that 4-6m scatter under canopy is pretty much what I'd expect honestly - the 1.5m spec is CEP in open sky conditions and multipath from tree trunks plus signal attenuation from foliage is just brutal for any consumer/prosumer GNSS. One thing that helped me a lot in similar conditions was enabling the dead reckoning output and fusing it with an IMU during the gap periods, smooths out the scatter significantly even if absolute accuracy still takes a hit.
