MultiNav Pro+ GNSS 1sec first fix claim — is that cold start or warm?

Douglas YoungJune 12, 2026
Hey all, been messing around with the MultiNav Pro+ GNSS module for a tracker project and I keep coming back to the "first fix in 1 second" spec on the product page. I'm assuming that's a hot start number, right? Like the module already has almanac/ephemeris cached and knows roughly where it is? Because I've been testing outdoors with clear sky and I'm definitely not hitting 1 second from a cold power-on. Closest I've gotten is around 28-32 seconds which honestly is still pretty decent, just not what I expected reading the spec sheet.

Yeah that 1s spec is definitely hot start — module's already got valid ephemeris and a recent position fix cached, so it's basically just reacquiring. Your 28-32s cold start numbers are actually pretty normal for this module outdoors, I've seen similar in my own testing. If you need faster cold starts you can look into feeding it assisted GNSS data (A-GNSS) over UART on boot, cuts it down a lot.
