MultiNav Pro+ GNSS - does 1.5m accuracy hold up under heavy tree cover?

Been working on a trail mapping project where the routes go pretty deep into forested areas - like thick Pacific Northwest canopy type stuff. I'm using the MultiNav Pro+ GNSS module and honestly it's been impressive in open areas, holding right around that 1.5m spec without much fuss. But once I get under heavy tree cover the tracks start drifting noticeably, sometimes 4-5 meters off from where I actually walked. Wondering if anyone's run this module in similar conditions and what kind of accuracy degradation they're actually seeing.

@Cody Murphy yeah, 4-5 meters under dense Pacific Northwest canopy is actually pretty consistent with what others have reported — that's not really a module problem, that's just physics. Heavy tree cover causes multipath interference where signals bounce off branches and trunks before hitting the receiver, and it also straight-up blocks weaker satellite signals, so your constellation count drops and the geometry gets worse.
 
The 18Hz fix rate helps here more than people realize — because the module is updating so frequently, the drift tends to average out better over a moving track compared to slower modules. But it can't fully compensate when you're losing line-of-sight to half the sky.
 
A few things worth trying: if you're not already logging raw position data and doing any post-processing, that can recover meaningful accuracy even from noisy tracks. Also check how many satellites you're locking onto under canopy versus open sky — if you're dropping below 6-7 birds, that's where the geometry degrades fast. Some people also get marginal improvement by mounting the module as high on their body as possible (chest mount vs. hip) to maximize sky view angle, which sounds obvious but actually makes a real difference under heavy cover.

Yeah that 4-5m drift under heavy canopy is pretty much expected behavior honestly - the MultiNav Pro+ is doing its best but dense tree cover just kills your satellite geometry and the multipath gets nasty. I've had decent luck enabling the dead reckoning fallback in the config and logging with higher fix intervals so you're not capturing the worst of the wandering, but you're not going to hold 1.5m under a PNW canopy no matter what module you're running. Some people pair it with a cheap IMU to smooth out the dead zones between decent fixes, worth looking into if the drift is really killing your track quality.
